Here’s your March update. As always we would like to thank you for your continued support. Tips on Surviving the dry, learn about upcoming events, and our water testing!

Our second Native Planting Day’s was a great success, with around 51 enthusiastic participants, we had a fantastic day filled with learning and a shared commitment to restoring our native landscapes. Visiting three different planting sites, with a focus on riparian planting.

This is our first newsletter for the year, and we say Nau Mai, Haere Mai to all of our WWCC whānau, both new and returning. Happy New Year to all of you, let's have a wonderful 2025 together!

As we approach the end of 2024, we want to take a moment to express our thanks for your support as we started our catchment journey. Your support and commitment makes a real difference to our land, water and people as we continue this journey to ensure the sustainability of our environment.

What a fantastic day we had celebrating our annual Spud in the Bucket competition! This year, the event was made even more special thanks to the generous support of Hinemoa Produce, who kindly donated the seed potatoes to grow a whopping 170 buckets of spuds—an incredible effort by everyone involved!

Our first of many Native Planting Day’s was a great success, with around 40 enthusiastic participants, we had a fantastic day filled with learning and a shared commitment to restoring our native landscapes. Visiting four different planting sites provided valuable insights into their progress, challenges, and lessons learned.

Laura from The Kiwi Country Girl hosted two wellbeing workshops in our community. Attendees learning practical tips for quick, healthy meals that fit seamlessly into our busy lives.

The official launch of the West Waikato Coastal Community Catchment Group was an incredible success, with 166 people in attendance bringing together our community to celebrate, connect, and kick off this exciting project.

Matt Chisholm, TV presenter turned sheep and beef farmer, shared his personal journey with mental health struggles, offering a raw and relatable insight into his experiences. His honesty and vulnerability resonated with everyone in the room, reminding us that it’s okay to not be okay.

We hosted a highly successful stakeholders lunch, bringing together key members of our West Waikato community. The event was a fantastic opportunity to share our vision, purpose, and introduce the amazing people behind the West Waikato Coastal Community Catchment Group.

During the months of April & May 2024, the West Waikato Coastal Community Catchment Group held a series of workshops across the catchment area, we had a fantastic turnout and great conversations.
